"Some of the greatest gifts we carry in life are the memories of a quiet afternoon shared with someone we love."
A Letter from the Founder
Growing up, my grandmother was one of the most treasured people in my world. On quiet afternoons, we would settle in together — her with her word find puzzle book open across her lap, me nestled beside her — both of us lost in the simple, satisfying joy of searching for hidden words.
She believed, with everything she had, that keeping your mind active was one of life's great gifts. And she made it feel like the most natural thing in the world — not a chore, not a task, but a pleasure. A ritual. A little corner of delight carved out of an ordinary day.
Those same afternoons, we would watch figure skating together on television. Those graceful, gliding performances — art and joy woven into one — added yet another thread to the quiet beauty of our time together. I didn't know then how much I would carry those moments. I know it now.
She is no longer here with me in the way I wish she could be. And as the years pass, I feel the shape of her absence — and the depth of what she gave me — even more deeply. I think of her often. I think of her every time I hold a puzzle book. I think of her every time I find a word hidden in a grid and feel that little spark of triumph.
I would have loved — more than I can say — to place something like Word Find Club in her hands. A beautifully curated puzzle, tucked inside a real envelope, arriving just for her. Something that said: I see you. I delight in you. This is just for you.
Years later, I learned another lesson — one that would become the second half of this story. While studying abroad at Keble College in Oxford, far from everyone and everything familiar, I discovered the quiet, particular magic of receiving mail with my own name on it. Walking to my mail cubby and finding something waiting there — something addressed to me, prepared with me in mind — made me feel remembered. Connected. Deeply, unexpectedly joyful.
There is nothing quite like it: the small, sacred thrill of being thought of. Of holding proof, in your own two hands, that you matter to someone.
I cannot give that first gift to my grandmother now. But I can give it to you.
Word Find Club was born at the meeting place of those two memories: the quiet delight of sharing a word-find puzzle with someone you love, and the meaningful joy of receiving something by post that was prepared especially for you. It is, quite simply, a piece of my heart — hand-curated, carefully packaged, and sent directly to your door. It is my way of honoring the woman who taught me that a quiet puzzle on a slow afternoon is one of life's most underrated treasures.
I hope that when your envelope arrives — when you open it and hold something beautiful in your hands — you feel it. The warmth of it. The care in it. The joy that was packed inside, intentionally, just for you.
This is for your continued curiosity. For your continued joy. For something fun and creative to enjoy — whether you settle in on your own with a cup of something warm, or gather your friends around and make an afternoon of it together.
You are so very welcome here. You are in the best company. 💜
